How to Beat the Sin of Envy
Envy Floor 20 Guarantee
Standard Depth Spelunking runs guarantee Envy’s Coliseum on Floor 20—not optional. The snowy grey coliseum replaces normal tasks with thirteen information papers at fixed locations beside faceless corpses holding clipboards. Daily Mode differs: Floor 20 uses random bosses instead of guaranteed Envy.
Envy is described as the weakest Deadly Sin but still lethal for unprepared Delvers. Ranged daggers deal heavy damage with stun and knockback. Above-average movement speed closes gaps when sight lines fail.
Paper Route Strategy
Learn paper locations—they are identical every encounter. Route to minimize crossing open center while Envy patrols. Grab edge papers behind stone walls first when possible so breaks in sight are one step away.
Teams split papers by zone with callouts on Envy position. Solo players loop the arena outer walls methodically never crossing Envy sight without a wall between you and them.
Leeching Roses and Traps
Leeching Roses grow across the floor with wet squelching audio. Stepping on one roots you requiring ten interact key presses to escape—fatal if Envy has line of sight during escape spam. Watch footing during chases; roses increase over time.
Allies cannot free you from Leeching Roses unlike Bear Trap ally rescue. Only self-interact escape works.
Blackouts and Items
Blackouts force Envy to aggro all Delvers simultaneously regardless of prior stealth. Speed consumables save bad dagger angles. Fear items help during blackout panic.
Phantom Cloak invisibility does not stop Envy—they continue chasing invisible players. Plan wall breaks instead of cloak reliance. Envy dialogue taunts during pursuit—ignore audio distractions and execute route.
