Best Builds & Loadouts
Build Theory
A build is three starter items plus consumable packing strategy. Effective builds cover task completion speed, at least one disengage tool, and either team utility or solo self-sufficiency. Forty-two starters enable infinite permutations—documented builds highlight proven trios rather than exhaustive lists.
Use our Loadout Builder to test synergies. Swap one slot at a time when iterating—changing all three items at once obscures what helped.
Solo Standard Build
Core solo: task-highlight item, mobility or stealth item, flexible third slot for fear or detection based on depth. Consumables lean fear and speed with bleed coverage on glass-heavy maps. Solo Sloth timers demand fast tasking—never skip task slots for pure stealth.
Floor 20 Envy solo requires wall discipline more than items, but speed consumables remain mandatory safety.
Co-op Team Builds
Teams split roles: two task-heavy builds, one support with detection and fear answers, or dedicated Mannequin watcher with minimal task items on mall floors. Five-player Mall runs recommend three taskers and two watchers per community consensus.
Coordinate consumables to avoid triple speed waste on one chase. Share Black Market unlocks knowledge—one player with Spectral Blindfold changes team routing on certain entities.
Daily and Late Game
Daily Mode builds obey seed forced items first, then fill gaps for score optimization—task speed beats greed modifiers unless Surplus rewards full clears. Late Floor 70+ builds assume Black Market access, deep Bestiary knowledge, and max consumable budgets for rare entity chains.
Boss-specific guides link builds for Sloth timed clears, Mannequin observation roles, and Envy paper routes.
