How to Beat the Sin of Sloth

Before Sloth Appears

The Sin of Sloth does not spawn randomly without provocation. Solo players trigger Sloth on the next floor if roughly 180 plus current floor times 8.5 seconds pass without completing any task—about 197 seconds on Floor 2 scaling to 605 seconds on Floor 50. Multiplayer triggers when one Delver goes 5 plus alive players divided by 1.5 floors without tasking, rounded up. A five-floor cooldown follows each Sloth queue.

Avoid Sloth entirely by completing tasks every floor and avoiding elevator power depletion stalls on entity floors. If Sloth is queued, prepare consumables and task-highlight items like Lumberjack Cap or Tracker for Sloth Cathedral.

Sloth Cathedral Phase One

Upon entering Sloth Cathedral, a brief cutscene plays. Sloth does not spawn immediately—use this window to locate tasks and consumables. The floor contains more tasks than average but excludes code keypads like standard keypad and colours keypad tasks.

Plan a full route before completing the first task. The moment the first task finishes, Sloth spawns and a four-minute thirty-second timer begins for all remaining tasks.

Survival During the Timer

Sloth possesses extreme speed and sight penetrating pillars and long tables but not solid walls. Break line of sight with walls only—hiding behind central pillars fails. Blackouts increase Sloth speed and raise fear—expect escalation mid-timer.

When the timer hits zero, Sloth enters heightened aggression with effectively unlimited hearing on any movement including crouch-walking. Finish before expiry or maintain absolute stillness if somehow still alive—movement equals detection.

Invisibility blocks Sloth sight but not sound; Sloth briefly aggroes then wanders if you are invisible and silent. You can pass through Sloth safely while invisible. Non-invisible players must crouch-walk carefully when not wall-blocked.

Rewards and Bestiary

Completing Sloth Cathedral awards information on Sloth and the floor immediately. Bestiary completion grants Horns of Sloth after roughly ten full clears, or seven to nine with Notebook acceleration. Badges include Unholy for encounter, Diligence for victory, and Filthy Freeloader for unique last-task completion styles.
